24 November Holiday: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh and the Chandigarh administration have declared November 28 as a holiday to mark Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day, news agency ANI reported.
ANI tweeted, “Uttar Pradesh will observe a holiday on November 28 to mark Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day.”

According to a notification issued by the Chandigarh Administration, all public offices will remain closed on November 28 to observe Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day.

Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth of the ten Gurus of the Sikhs. They sacrificed their lives for the protection of religion and human values, ideals and principles. He stood out from an early age for his qualities of sacrifice and bravery. According to the PIB, he was hanged for supporting the religious freedom of Kashmiri Pandits on the orders of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Because of the supreme sacrifice she is honored as the sheet of Hind.
Meanwhile, President Draupadi Murmu in her message on the occasion of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day said that he sacrificed his life for religion and his sacrifice will always be remembered in times to come.
“I pay my tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on the occasion of his Martyrdom Day. He is called the ‘Chadar of Hind’ as his martyrdom is seen as a sacrifice for humanity. Let us all take a pledge to adopt Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s teachings of unity and brotherhood in our lives.”
