Kuala Lumpur, Sep 23 – DAP President Lim Guan Eng today challenged the MCA to prove its allegations that disgraced former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is suffering torture behind bars in Kajang Prison.

“If Najeeb is tortured in jail, the PH leaders including former prisoners like Anwar and I will be the first to defend him.
“But does the MCA have any evidence that Najeeb is being tortured? The issue is the special treatment given to Najeeb which was not given to Anwar or me when we were in Sungai Buloh and Kajang prison respectively,” Lim said in a statement.
Lim was sentenced to 18 months in prison in 1998 and spent a year in Kazang prison before being released in August 1999, having been found guilty of violating the Sedition Act and the Printing Press and Publications Act for charges That the then Melaka Chief Minister had raped under a. – Old girl.
He claimed that he slept on a bare cement floor with only a thin blanket before being provided a thin mattress weeks later.
Anwar has been jailed twice during his political career. The first was on double charges of corruption and sodomy in 1999 after being sacked as deputy prime minister and finance minister. The second time was for Sodomy in 2015, from which he was granted a full royal pardon in May 2018 after winning the general election the same year.
Lim noted news reports of Anwar’s response to claims by Najib’s supporters that the Umno politician is entitled to medical treatment at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital (CRH) – where security is said to be less protected than in prison – as the PKR president called it his own. Received during imprisonment. ,
Anwar was informed saying that he was sent to CRH only after spending 10 years in solitary confinement in Sungai Buloh prison and undergoing surgery on his shoulder.
In contrast, Lim pointed out that Najib was sent to CRH within the first month of serving in Kajang Prison.
“Anwar said that if Najeeb wants to be treated the same way, Najeeb will have to serve 10 years first, then he should be brought to HRC.
“This is the best answer for MCA leaders supporting the special treatment given to Najib,” said Lim, referring to Senator Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, a deputy minister of MCA even asking why. Opponents want to see Najeeb being tortured and jailed.” Who is the Vice President of MCA.
The federal opposition lawmaker claimed that the MCA had “always been supportive of both Najib and corruption” and were among those receiving funding from sovereign investment firm 1MDB.
“MCA President Wei Ka Seong said in 2013 that the Chinese community expected more Najibs in Umno.
“Will MCA fight for equal privileges to all prisoners?” Lim asked.
Najib was convicted of stealing RM42 million from former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International Sdn Bhd and sent to prison on 23 August to serve 12 years in prison. He was also fined RM210 million and would face a further five-year sentence for non-payment of the amount.
