Assam little girl allegedly gang-raped by four persons in moving car: police

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by four persons in a moving vehicle in Assam’s Cachar district, police said.

According to police, the underage girl knew someone.

The incident, which took place on February 15, came to light days later after the girl’s family lodged a formal complaint with the Kachudaram police station in Cachar.

The girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped in a car by four men, the complaint states.

One of the four defendants is a 30-year-old married man known to the girl, police said.

“The man recently bought the car and called the girl to meet him on the night of February 15. According to the underage girl’s statement, when she arrived, they dragged her into the car and raped her.” police said.

Kachudaram police station in-charge R Nath said they have registered a case against the four accused under sections 376D of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), gang rape, section 363 (kidnapping) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. ).

“We have identified them and our officers are working hard to trace them as they are absconding,” he told HT on Tuesday.

The minor girl’s family said she was receiving psychological counseling.

“She has been through a traumatic time that has affected her mental health. We are working hard to provide her with adequate treatment,” the family said.

They also demanded strict action against the accused.

“These four boys should be severely punished and we call on the police and the judiciary not to let them go,” said the mother of the minor girl.
