Huge iron ore deposit discovered in Karauli, Rajasthan

The Rajasthan Mines Department has started preparations for the auction of comprehensive licenses for iron ore blocks after the discovery of huge iron ore deposits near Hindong in Karauli district, officials said.

Mining Minister Anandi said that based on initial indications, more than 840 tons of iron ore are stored in Hoda, Dadaroli, Thodupura and Liloti near Karaulihindong. She added that new iron ore deposits would also create new opportunities for industrial development and employment in the state.

Indications of the iron ores magnetite and hematite have been found during preliminary exploration carried out by the department. Iron ore deposits are found in Khoda 462.3 hectares, Dadaroli 754.38 hectares, Todupura 260.71 hectares and Liloti 410.94 hectares.

The auction of the comprehensive license will lead to further exploration in the area and it is believed that further exploration may produce additional iron ore reserves in the area.
