Rishabh Pant’s decision to bat first at the Eden Gardens backfired as Kolkata Knight Riders eased past Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League 2024 on Monday. Philip Salt’s quick knocks helped Shreyas Iyer and his team beat Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets in the 47th match of IPL 2024 in Kolkata. With the victory over Delhi Capitals, Iyer’s KKR side retained their second spot in the IPL 2024 points table.

In the recently concluded tournament, Pant’s DC side had a sub-par total of 153-9 in 20 overs. Pant scored 27 off 20 balls while Kuldeep Yadav’s counterattack against the Knight Riders helped DC set a modest target. In reply, two-time champions KKR completed the chase in just 16.3 overs. KKR opener Salter scored the highest score in Knight Riders’ seven-match win over Delhi Capitals.

Against the Capitals, wicketkeeper-batsman Salter smashed 68 off 33 balls. Salt are ranked fifth in the IPL 2024 Orange Cap standings. KKR overtook Sanju Samson in the opener and moved to fifth place in the latest standings. Sol has scored 392 points in nine games this season. DC captain Pant sealed the fourth spot after KKR defeated the visitors. After playing 11 matches in IPL 2024, Pant has scored 398 runs.
