Karan Wahi recalls his fondest cricket memory: Gautam Gambhir once hit me 7 sixes in one match

Karan Wahi, who completes two decades as an actor this year, has dreamed of playing cricket for India since he was a child. But when he was 16, an injury forced him to give up his dream. In a special shoot with HT City during the IPL season, Wahi told us why he had to give up his passion. “I had major surgery on my ankle and, at the time, no one encouraged me to keep trying,” said Vashey, who began his acting career on the TV show “Remix.”

The 37-year-old, who grew up in Delhi, remembers being spotted by batsman Shikhar Dhawan’s coach and playing alongside two former India openers. “Ek baar, Gautam Gambhir)ne 7 chhakke maare thhe mere ek over mein. Even Virender Sehwag used to come to practice at the ground next to my house. When he would train there, I would bowl to him,” recalled Vashi.

No wonder the actor hopes he gets a chance to play for Delhi. “When IPL came, I even thought about giving up showbiz and returning to cricket!” Wahi admitted that he is a loyal fan of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

The cricket enthusiast reflected on batsman Rinku Singh being left out of the playing eleven for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the United States. “It’s not just about how many points you score. It’s about your shooting percentage, your shooting average and where you’re at. The situation is that somebody’s going to miss. It’s like choosing from the best. I feel like his The time is coming,” he said.

Vahi also reacted to the trolls faced by Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya. He said: “If I were him, first of all I would never come back to Mumbai (from Gujarat Titans). Last year you led a new team straight to the finals with your own ability. The most important thing is that you are from Gujarat “I don’t think there’s a reason for him to be captain this year, they can do it next year and now they’re not winning, so I feel bad for him, too.”

With RCB almost out of the IPL 2024, Wahi is looking forward to India taking on Pakistan in the upcoming World T20 in New York, USA on June 9. It’s his birthday after all. “My visa and air tickets have been sorted but my match tickets are not yet available. However, I want to give my parents the experience of watching the India vs Pakistan match,” he concluded.
