Manipur: CoHSEM class 12 board exams to begin today

Imphal: This year’s Class 12 examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (CoHSEM) will begin on Wednesday, February 21. The examination is held at 111 centers across the state.

A total of 31,352 students, including 15,947 boys and 15,152 girls, from 236 high schools appeared for this year’s board examinations, which are expected to run till March 23, 2024.

Among them, there are 22,632 people in the science category, 8100 people in the art category, and only 620 people in the business category.

Of the total 111 examination centres, 36 are located in 10 districts in the hills and 75 in 6 districts in the valleys. According to officials aware of the development, the state police has formed 70 flying squads and will station 40 flying squads at various centers to facilitate smooth conduct of examinations amid ongoing unrest in the state.

The annual examinations for Class 11 are also being held at 221 centers starting from Wednesday with the support of CoHSEM.

In Grade 11, 29,823 students (15,004 boys and 14,819 girls) will appear for the examination, which is scheduled to end on March 20, 2024.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh extended his best wishes to all the students appearing for the Class 12 exams 2024. “I extend my best wishes to all the students appearing for the COHSEM examination. Your dedication and hard work will pave the way for a brighter future. Let us avoid any action that may disrupt the examination process and ensure a smooth conduct of the examination.” He posted on X.

State Education Minister Thounaojam Basantakumar Singh shared similar sentiments and also extended his best wishes to all the students appearing for the Class 11 and 12 examinations.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our teachers for their hard work and dedication throughout the school year. Your tireless efforts have helped prepare students for this important milestone, and we thank you for your valuable contributions,” He said.
