Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said Harry and Meghan were the ones who put Charles through the most trials. He said he believed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had taken “revenge” after being evicted from Frogmore Cottage, which they believed would “always be there”.

Fitzwilliams told The Sun: “The fact that Harry and Meghan had had enough after ‘The Backup’ so he kicked them out of Frogmore Cottage I don’t think they expected that “They certainly didn’t like it, but the revelations in Backup, not just the attacks on the royal family in that book and the interviews surrounding it, which a lot of people watched, Harry was responsible for, of course. This is his memoir.”

“What the king does matters”

Fitzwilliams said the revelations following the publication of Harry’s memoirs in January last year had a huge impact on Charles’s reign. “The ‘backup’ plan was so bad you felt he wasn’t advised, but attacking Queen Camilla was clearly a red line and, as the media pointed out, he was very hostile to it,” he said. “So it’s important that the king does what he does.”

Fitzwilliams also claimed Harry and Meghan were “monetizing” their association with the Windsors. He said: “There is no doubt that the expulsion of the Sussexes from their residence in the UK shows the royal family’s huge dissatisfaction.” He declared that “it is absolutely the right thing to do.”

“There’s no doubt that her fight with Omid Scobie later in the year and all that was also very, very unhelpful,” he continued. “But now people get nothing and the Sussexes use their links to the royal family to make money.”

He added, “They seem to be in the news forever, and the way they behave and what they decide to do is obviously important to them.”
