‘Only general category can get EWS benefits’: MP HC seeks Centre’s response

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Saturday issued a notice to the central government for allegedly providing benefits under the Economically Weak Section (EWS) to “general category only” students/aspirants.

The organization claimed that the poor existed among all categories and castes, however, EWS benefits were provided by the government “only to the general category of people”.

Rameshwar Prasad Singh, one of the advocates for the petitioner, said the EWS policy promulgated by the Government of India was inconsistent with Article 15(6) and Article 16(6) of the Constitution which had been submitted to the court. 6 styles. “We believe that since January 17, 2019, the Indian government has challenged the validity of the Constitution on five grounds.”

It has been argued that exclusion of Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes from the benefits of the EWS policy is a violation of Article 14.

“Not only this, EWS reservation is a special reservation and its vertical application is unconstitutional. The government’s policy is caste-discriminatory against the poor. The petitioner contends that the 103rd Amendment to the Constitution provides for provision of EWS reservation benefits to categories of poor,” the petition reads.

After the preliminary hearing, the court issued a notice to the central government, requesting a reply from the central government.
