A Janata Dal (Secular) worker in Hassan, Karnataka, has accused MP Prajwal Revanna of raping her at gunpoint and recording a video of the act, Press Trust of India reported.
Based on a complaint by a JD(S) staff member, a first information report (FIR) has been registered by the Criminal Investigation Department, which is probing the allegations of sexual abuse against Revanna.
The woman said in her complaint that Prajwal took her to the MP’s quarters where he committed the crime at gunpoint and threatened to kill her if she disclosed to anyone what she had done. She and her husband.
“He (Prajwal Revanna) asked me to take off my clothes. I refused and threatened to scream for help. But he threatened me and said he was carrying a gun and would not leave me and my husband,” she reportedly claimed. indian express.
“He threatened to leak the video to the public if I revealed it to anyone. He used the videos (as leverage) to call me on the phone and ask me to take off my clothes. He also raped me several times ,” the complainant added.
She claimed that between January 1, 2021, and April 25, 2024, she was raped and harassed multiple times.
Kidnapping FIR against Prajwal Revanna
Prajwal Revanna, the current MP from Hassan district and grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, has been accused of recording the alleged sex tape. Thousands of pen drives purportedly containing videos of his sexual assaults are circulating in the Lok Sabha constituency of Hassan, the candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-JD(S).
The Karnataka government has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the allegations. Prajwal Revanna claimed that the videos were doctored and traveled to Frankfurt on the day the Karnataka Police formed an SIT. He was also suspended from his party.
Earlier, a case of alleged sexual harassment was registered against Revanna on April 28 based on a complaint lodged with the Holenarasipura town police. Prajwal Revanna, his father HD Revanna and his close friend Sathish Babanna were also charged with kidnapping on Thursday for allegedly abducting a woman five days ago.
The complainant stated that on April 29, his mother was taken away by Babana.
“My mother’s photo was also involved in the obscene video controversy. After the video was exposed, she suddenly disappeared,” the son added.
The incident triggered a political controversy with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Congress party blaming each other. Activists and opposition parties have called for his arrest.
